Private lessons on Zoom
One or two 1:1 lessons a week, built around what you need next: openings, tactics, endgames, game analysis, and the mental side of the game. Reschedule up to 24 hours ahead at no cost.
2, 4 or 8 lessons a monthPrivate 1:1 lessons on Zoom for children and adults, as a simple monthly membership. And because what you do between lessons decides how fast you improve, it includes your own student portal: a recap of every lesson, a weekly plan, and practice built from your own games.
2, 4 or 8 lessons a month · Billed monthly, cancel anytime · English & Spanish
Every lesson plan comes with three things that work together.
One or two 1:1 lessons a week, built around what you need next: openings, tactics, endgames, game analysis, and the mental side of the game. Reschedule up to 24 hours ahead at no cost.
2, 4 or 8 lessons a monthWhere the work between lessons happens: lesson recaps, a weekly plan, puzzles from your own mistakes, and tools to train how you think. Log in with Lichess or Google, on any device.
Every day, at your paceA recap after each lesson and a monthly report by email: lessons attended, topics covered, practice and rating progress. Parents always know what their child is working on.
After each lesson and monthlyEvery lesson covers real chess, and pays attention to how you're playing it, not just what you're playing.
For students who are new to the game or shaky on the fundamentals. Piece movement, basic rules, elementary tactics, and how to read a board — taught at a pace that builds real understanding, not memorized moves.
For players who know the rules and want to actually get better. Opening principles with real reasoning behind them, tactical pattern recognition, positional understanding, and a plan for the plateau you're currently stuck on.
Real chess content, paced for a young player's attention and development. Concentration, patience, and a healthy relationship with losing are built alongside the game itself — not as an afterthought.
Bring a game you played — win or lose. We go through it together: what happened on the board, what you were thinking (or feeling) at the key moments, and what to take from it.
Practical preparation for competitive play — opening repertoire choices, time management, pre-game routine, and how to reset between rounds after a difficult result.
A standing weekly or biweekly slot built around a development plan specific to you, revisited regularly as your game and your goals change.
No endless random puzzles. Each tool is connected to what we work on in class, to your own games, or to the way you think under pressure.
After each class you get the key ideas, the thinking habits we worked on, your task for the week and puzzles on the same topic. By email and saved in your portal, so nothing is forgotten.
After every lessonEvery week, a chess engine reviews your games on Lichess and Chess.com and picks the moments where there was a much better move. You get them back as puzzles: find what you missed, so it doesn't happen again.
Every MondayA few focused tasks for the week, based on your recent games and what we covered in class. Tick them off as you go and watch the bar fill up.
Every weekThe day before your lesson you get three puzzles on last week's topic, so you arrive with the idea fresh and we can build on it instead of starting over.
The day before each lessonShort training sessions with real puzzles from Lichess, adapted to your level: tactics, board vision and the patterns you need to recognize in a second.
Whenever you have 10 minutesLook at a position, write your plan in your own words and get feedback on your reasoning, not only on the move. It trains the way you think, which is what transfers to your games.
AnytimeAfter a game, note how you felt and what happened. If you're on a losing streak, the portal suggests a pause before the next game, because tilt costs more rating points than any opening.
After your gamesConcepts you've learned and practiced, training days, rating on Lichess. Progress in chess is slow and easy to miss. Here you can see it.
Always up to dateYour upcoming lessons, reminders by email when you want them, and every past recap in one place, organized by topic.
AlwaysEvery position you miss comes back after 1, 3, 7 and 21 days until you master it. It's the same spaced-repetition method memory experts use, applied to chess patterns.
A few minutes a dayHow you actually score with each opening, as White and as Black, from your games on Lichess and Chess.com. See what works for you and what to study next.
Updated weeklyStreaks, puzzle milestones, mistakes fixed, rating gains. They count everything you do on Lichess, Chess.com and in the portal, so playing online counts too.
Updated dailyMany of my students are children, and the person paying for lessons is rarely the one sitting at the board. So families are part of the process:
Before we meet you answer a couple of questions and solve ten puzzles that adapt to you. In the first lesson we look at real positions together, so everything after it is built for you.
Openings, tactics, endgames and the mental patterns worth your attention, sequenced sensibly and adjusted as your game and your goals change.
Lessons on Zoom with the board shared live on Lichess or Chess.com, in English or Spanish. After each one, your recap, task and practice are waiting in the portal.
Every plan includes the full student portal. The more lessons, the less each one costs: on Weekly the portal is practically free. Billed monthly, cancel anytime. Prices in US dollars.
The portal on its own, no lessons.
A lesson every other week.
Steady, weekly coaching.
Faster progress or tournament prep.
